I agree with most people here, plot of star wars, ideas of LotR. ruebs2 already explained the plot part, so I’ll do ideas.Elves almost exact same as lotr (forest, immortal)Dwarves almost exact same as lotr (axes, mountains)Compare the two maps (middle earth, algaesia). Small amount of sea in the west, rest mainly land.Urgals = orcs/uruk-hai.Eragon = AragornGalbatorix = sauronI could go on if i wasn’t fr the bloody word count

I liked the books…second one was a bit of a snoozer, though.I’m aware that it’s Star Wars with dragons, but The Hero’s Journey (TV Tropes ftw) is quite a common storyline and I don’t think that Paolini made it so similar to so many other things on purpose.The movie was alright AT BEST as a stand alone film, but if you compare it to the book it’s just…no.

i agree with the tolkien part, not the cs lewis. eragon has A LOT in common with tolkiens works… but the lord of the rings is the foundation of an epic fantasy.
