When it comes to science fiction and the SciFi channel, there are mediocre shows, good shows and really great shows. I think that the SciFi channel subscribes to the notion that you need all levels of writing in order to find the really great, OMG, that was awesome, must watch again and again series. In that arena falls three shows for 2008, but before I get to those, I must mention one really great show that ran for 10 years and will remain the all time great shows besides Star Trek. That show is Stargate SG-1. In its long run, it introduced us to worlds, realms and ideas that made us pause, gasp and laugh. It stands, in my opinion, as one of those shows that becomes part of pop culture and will remain a memory of a really great science fiction television show.

For once, we don’t have to report that Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse TV series is in trouble… because this time, it’s the webisode spin-off series that we’re worried about. Originally, each episode of the troubled Whedon creation was going to be accompanied with a three-minute webisode of exclusive material , but that seems to no longer be the case in light of the numerous production hiatuses and rewrites required to get the series ready for its February debut.

Everybody obsesses about zero-gravity sex, but they ignore the fantastic possibilities for zero-gravity slapstick. Just check out this zany computer-wrecking, doll-molesting, peanut-butter dodging clip from The Reluctant Astronaut, starring Don Knotts.
