Agreed. At first I thought it sounded weird. Now I have a hard time deciding which one I like better, the original or this one.
Kinda makes me wish both were on the upcoming score. 
FYI, I believe i saw somewhere that Bear plans to make a BSG Band album. Get your hopes up.

Was that sung by the actor who played Gaeta or by someone else at the concert?
it was sung by Brendan McCreary, Bear’s brother.
It was sung by Brendan McCreary at the concert, but the actor, Allesandro Juliani, does sing it for the sound track.
On The Season 4 Soundtrack, we can hear the voice of the actor, Alessandro Juliani who plays Felix Gaeta.I guess it was impossible to get the actor go everywhere with the Orchestra, so Bear’s brother, Breandan McCreary sings the song in live.
