you can buy the technical manuals. they were made in the late 90s when TNG was at the height of its popularity. It was also mentioned in the Star Trek Encyclopedia, which was published around the same time.

The reason the saucer crashed was because it was pushed by the shockwave of the explosion from the body section when it exploded, They fell into the atmosphere instead of having a controlled landing.

Did anyone notice that the Enterprise Ds neck was too short, apart from the odd dimensions mistake this is a good video!!
