ZOE (IMDB) : When I go to the D.R., the press in Santo Domingo always asks, “¿Qué te consideras, dominicana o americana?” (What do you consider yourself, Dominican or American?) I don’t understand it, and it’s the same people asking the same question. So I say, time and time again, “Yo soy una mujer negra.” (“I am a black woman.”) [They go,] “Oh, no, tú eres trigueñita.” (“Oh no, you are ‘dark skinned’”) I’m like, “No! Let’s get it straight, yo soy una mujer negra.” (“I am a black woman.”)

I like your point of view. A complete stranger to me is not someone with another skin color but sharing a common language – any language. The american PC movement has created unfortunately an inflationary use of hyphened races. There are only colours in different shades….

@javie2 i understand why you are getting offended what do you call the black latinos such as alfonso ribeiro, christina milian and Zoe Saldana? Too me they are black just like the african americans. Many afican americans are mixed with other races for your informations that’s that make them less black? I don’t think so. Im tired of arguing with you, you can say whatever you want I just don’t agree with you that’s all..P.S Im not american!

By the way, I don’t care about your Obama president because I’m not American. Your problem is that you are the typical american trying to impose your own believes on other countries. You are living in self-denial.

I’m from Dominican Republic which is in Latin America. Guess what? There is not such thing as Afro-Dominican.In my country, there are only Dominicans and not fascist foreigner is going to try to divide us. Race is irrelevant because we share three different racial roots (Tahino, African, and European) but we are Latin because that’s the culture we share with all our Latin-American brothers and sisters.

Holy shit, she looked incredibly tired in this interview. As if she got no sleep at all the night before.

She’s what you would call a black Hispanic.Remember Hispanic and Latino are an ethnicity not a race.

@javie2 I don’t think she whould be insult being passed as black, do you? 1. black is nothing to be ashamed of 2. she IS black and she know that herself 3. latino is NOT a race i repeat NOT A RACE! there are black, white, native and other lations !
