one last one from ANH’s novel, page p.203-204 Blue Ten sounded equally concerned. “You should be able to pick up the target by now.”"I know. The disruption down here is unbelievable. I think my instruments are off. Is this the right trench?”the ECM is so bad it messes with the fabric of space, slowing down engines and you can’t even get a firm fix on your location!fighter scale weapon effectiveness is also shown in AOTC, slave one vapourizes small silicaceous asteroids.
and from the Novelizations (which are also canon) “Also, their field generators will probably create a lot of distortion, especially in and around the trench. I figure that maneuverability in that sector will be less than point three.”"My scope’s negative. I don’t see anything.”"Pick up your visual scanning.” “Remember, they can jam every instrument on your ship except your eyes.”all the above is from the ANH novel.also explains why they use windows instead of viewscreens.
if you see a missile hit a ship, and then that ship explode, don’t assume all that energy came from the missile rather than say, the ammunition on the ship.for those reasons and more, only effectiveness on Intert, Known materials can be used to determine firepower.ECM comes from various sources, on screen for example “there’s too much interference” and “we’ve got to be able to get a reading on that shield up or down” “well how can they be jamming us if they don’t know…. we’re coming…”
Irrelevant, they are made out of fictional materials that cannot be readily quantified, also the Reactors on board ships also make a huge difference, as well as the location of where the ship rammed. for example, for all we know the Executor penetrated a part of the skin that carried fuel or tibana gas, creating the cataclysmic explosion, note how the blast came out of the Death Star and engulfed the executor, not from the executor.
larger than a tie fighter. did you check out the website. id like to know were you come up with this “ecm” stuff. as for the DS9 stuff. did you see a single photon blasted all the way through the wing of a cardassian ship. and how 4 UFP fighters cripple another one? then notice how in ST nemesis. the Enterprise E rams a ship about a quarter way through the saucer. and lives. then notice how the executor blows up after crashing into the death star almost on impact. so much for strength….
comparing firepower has to be done vs INERT objects, neither the faux asteroid in Rise nor any ship (what with their powder keg warp cores) in trek count as signs of firepower. only signs of their durability or lack thereof.also funny how you mention the D destroying LARGER targets in less time, cause we all know it’s harder to hit LARGER targets than SMALLER ones not only that but there was no ECM, and they were flying on a very predictable course.sorry but you fail again.
now it’s obvious that you are trolling, first of all the faux asteroid in Rise wasn’t that large, and was made out of such weak materials that you can chip a chunk nearly in half with a hand tool.secondly the Falcon had a hard time hitting the TIEs as they accelerate 5x faster than the Enterprise D, very small and have enough ECM countermeasures to make target locks extremely difficult for even the Falcon.photons destroying ships in DS9 is only proof of ship weakness, not photon strength,
once again you weren’t paying attention, X-wings have shields, they talk about them constantly in the battle .”stabilize your rear deflectors”, “switch all power to front deflector screen” etcthe Shields aren’t enough to STOP TIE fighter shots, but they are enough to absorb most of the energy and keep the rest that passes through from causing catastrophic damage if they hit a non vital point.IE it was the shields that made it so that the shot didn’t destroy R2, not the TIE guns.
ohh and theres a VGR episode where the voyager destroys a astroid with enought mass to destroy a city with a single photon shot. and photons have been shown to destroy large ships with reletive ease. see DS9 sacrafice of angels. have you seen the accuracy of millianiam falcoln. it took like 2 min to destroy 4 ties. the enterprise D destroyed around eight larger targets in less than 2 seconds.
@Perion hahaha. where the fuck does it show a tie fighter do anything more than get blown up. if the ties blasters were a quarter of what you say they are. it would destroy an xwing in a single shot. yet they have to shoot it 5-6 times. and one shot cant even fully destroy a R2 unit. even with a dome shot. ties are crap.
